Parking with that certain something
Our Parking and leisure centre systems division has joined forces with leading automobile manufacturers in an exciting project about the future of car travel. As part of the travolution project wireless communications between vehicles and car parks is revolutiuonising the way we use car parks.
The MMI monitor and its user interface are at the heart of a system that makes parking quicker and easier. As the vehicle approaches the car park the MMI monitor displays information about the number of free parking spaces and the tariff. Before the vehicle reaches the entry barrier, one tap on the user interface by the driver allows the driver to accept the tariff, the barrier opens and the entry time is automatically recorded. All the driver has to do is enter and park in his chosen space.
Departure is just as quick and simple. As the vehicle approaches the exit barrier, a tap on the user interface displays the length of time that the car park has been used and the price that is due. A second tap and the cashless payment service process, using a pre-determined method of payment, completes the transaction and opens the barrier. The vehicle acts as the identification medium for the secure transaction and the receipt for the payment is sent to the drivers email account.
This travolution that makes car parking quick, easy and cashless is currently running successfully in a pilot project at the Theatre car park in Ingolstadt.
