eTicketing – where the future is now

eTicketing

Our Fare collection systems division is continuing to innovate its fare collection and revenue management products and services through its pioneering work on e-ticketing.

Whilst the widespread use of NFC mobile phones and Open Payment systems are just in the future, Scheidt & Bachmann is working with transport agencies and operators around the world today to deliver the benefits of electronic ticketing delivered using contactless smart cards.

With a smart card enables system, a traveller can use every part of the system, whether it is a bus, a train, a tram, a ferry or even a car park with one card and without needing to know what the fares are. Each time the traveller uses their card, the system calculates the fare and can ensure that they get the best available price.

The traveller doesn’t need to worry about having the right cash for the journey, the operator is assured of their revenue collection and the whole system delivers ease of use with less paper and faster boarding times – delivering environmental as well as economic benefits.

Scheidt & Bachmann has developed the complex technology that is needed to deliver these easy to use e-ticketing systems, from the ticket machines to the Back Office that can do clearing and settlement. As well as its own specifications, Scheidt & Bachmann is also delivering solutions using national Specifications like ITSO in the UK and VDV in Germany.

Using NFC enabled mobile phones for ticketing, as well as Scheidt & Bachmann’s own NFC ‘BeIn/BeOut’ solution have already been piloted whilst the next generation of e-ticketing, the direct use of a contactless bank debit or credit card, is already in certification with Mastercard and Visa to ensure that, for a Scheidt & Bachmann fare collection systems customer, the future can always be now.
