Scheidt & Bachmann has been awarded with the PAAC contract |
  Scheidt & Bachmann Fare collections division has recently been unanimously awarded a complete system-wide modernisation and Smart Card implementation for the the Port Authority of Allegheny County (PAAC), in western Pennsylvania. PAACprovides approximately 220,000 daily riders and 65 million riders annually.
This is accomplished by 183 bus routes, 5 rail routes within a 775 square-mile area of Pittsburgh. The fleet is supported by 861 buses, 48 mini-buses, 83 light rail vehicles and the Monongahela Incline.
Optionally, the agreement with the PAAC provides for new Fare collection systems for the nine other regional transit agencies (regional partners) which operate throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania totaling 3,136,000.00 annual riders. The regional partner’s system plans consist of replacing the existing Fareboxes, Point-of-Sale equipment and Cash Handling systems with a seamless, electronic Smart Card-based system. This award was one of the largest U.S. Fare collection system procurement in 2008/2009 and for Scheidt & Bachmann will represent its third U.S. regional Smart Card system. |
