First installations on the Chinese market
show larger pictureThe Chinese metropolitan area of Shanghai has Scheidt & Bachmann Fare Gates and Ticket Office Machines (TOMs) installed since the beginning of July 2007. Within four weeks, 67 Gates and 129 TOMs at Shanghai Main Station, Shanghai South Station, Nanjing and Hangzhou have been installed. In addition to the devices, Scheidt & Bachmann also delivered the Central Support System (CSS) as well as Local Device Controllers (LDCs) for monitoring and controlling the Gates.

The stations mentioned above are connected by the new high speed train called CRH2 , starting its service a few month ago. These lines are mainly used by people travelling for business purposes. They appreciate the fast handling and the automatic seat reservation that came with the implementation of the Gates and TOMs. Each TOM produces about 2000 tickets daily, which exaggerates the operator's expectations.

Scheidt & Bachmann is contracted by the XY-Group, who is working for the Ministry of Railways (MOR). This cooperation with the XY-Group has come effective because "a single-handed effort on a market with such high entry barriers on a very dynamic and developing market is difficult and expensive" says Matthias Augustyniak, Managing Director of Scheidt & Bachmann Fare collections systems.

Further expansions of the railroad network are planned for the Olympic Games in 2008. This successfully implemented project in Shanghai is a high-quality reference for Scheidt & Bachmann.

The Parking and leisure centre systems department of Scheidt & Bachmann has already successfully placed several projects into operation on the Chinese market. An active exchange of experiences between both Scheidt & Bachmann departments supports the development of the market position and its business rules.
