The interlocking system Scheidt&Bachmann ZSB 2000 operates according to the operational method of the signalised train control, based on an electronic interlocking for signalised train control (ESZB), and is generally used on railway lines with simplified operational demands. All kinds of conventional drives can be applied on lines equipped with the ZSB 2000, in particular the operation on electrified lines is enabled. Basically, two communication interfaces are available for a networking of all operating points on the line with best possible time and cost benefit. They are realised as &dbquo;intelligent interfaces“ (bus), and interchanging of very detailed information between the operating interfaces on the entire line is possible by means of telegram-based data exchange. Besides the operating points station, block post, AWANST passing/feeder track and block interface, also level crossings (BUES 2000) can be connected to the interfaces.

Due to the contents to be transmitted , two "intelligent“ interfaces are used:

Bus 1 serial data bus for:

  • Disposition
  • Diagnosis/service

Bus 2 serial data bus for:

  • Block
  • Line clearance

Whereas on bus 2 all operating points on the line and the related stations communicate safely with each other, the communication via bus 1 takes place with the dispatcher resp. with the repair centre.
