HSM 10E Barrier drive system

Effective signalling

The use of the BUES 2000 as a modern, fully electronic safety system for level crossings has made it possible to transfer control tasks directly to the field element. The HSM 10E, an electronically operated hydraulic barrier drive unit in modular design for beam lengths of up to 10 metres, utilises this possibility as an intelligent system component, communicating with the BUES 2000 via the CAN (controller area network) bus in the form of data messages. This results in a substantial increase in the volume of information which can be exchanged and thus also enables the output of diagnostic data.

Configuration:

  • Modular design with subsystems which can be exchanged on site at the level crossing:
    • housing
    • barrier shaft
    • drive unit
    • control electronics
  • Tubeless drive unit in environment-friendly compact design, requiring no maintenance work on the system.
  • Intelligent system logic via the use of a microprocessor controller in Euro-card format with integrated CAN interface and LCD display for output of programme codes and error codes
  • Three-phase asynchronous motor as hydraulic pump drive
  • Use of a frequency converter to generate a variable-frequency rotary field from the battery voltage
  • Continuous and non-contact detection of the barrier‘s position via an inductive sensor in the piston rod
  • Hydraulic valve control via a rotary valve operated by a stepping motor
  • Load limitation for the hydraulic system via the use of an overload valve in the pump; additional electronic monitoring of the running current of the asynchronous motor to identify and prevent overloads

Further features:

  • Selection of various running time programmes on the drive module via keyboard
  • Speed control via software for slow start-up and deceleration of the barrier and for optimisation of the starting current characteristic
  • Compact and highly reliable hydraulic system prevents closing failure, assisted by top-heavy design and substitute volute closing spring
  • The substitute closing function integrated in the rotary valve replaces the previously employed holding magnets and is checked by the software prior to each opening operation
  • Software checks the open/close control inputs for opposite status to prevent incorrect activation
  • CRC check, RAM test and CPU test guarantee reliable functioning of the software
  • Automatic read-in and adjustment to connected input voltage
  • Automatic calibration after power failure
